19th May, the day of supreme sacrifice of the eleven valiant souls of Barak valley for the cause of mother tongue is observed under the shadow of NRC updating, attempt of defining ‘an assamese` or `a son of the soil’ and renewed attempt of communal polarisation- all with an attempt to endanger the linguistic identities of Bengalis of Assam. People from West Bengal, Tripura and Bangladesh join the observance at Silchar alongside the people of Barak Valley.

An elegant martyrs’ memorial is unveiled at Udharbond on 16th May, 2015. Swapan Paul is the sculptor.

The celebrated singing maestros from West Bengal, Bangladesh feature in a CD entitled ‘Unisher Dak’ (the call of Nineteenth) brought out by DOHAR. The Bhasha Shahid Station Shahid Smmaron Samity-sponsored CD is flagged off by Manabendra Bandopadhyay, a leading literary activist and an eminent intellectual of West Bengal. The CD is released to the audience of Barak Valley through a programme on 18th May, 2015 at Bhasha Shahid Station, Silchar.
